Our Story
This project didn't start in a boardroom. It started in squad rooms, in briefing halls, and in quiet conversations with fellow federal employees who had dedicated their lives to public service but were completely in the dark about their own financial future.
A Mission Born from Experience
My name is Jerin Falcon, and I’ve seen the system from every angle. I started my career as a GS-07 Police Officer on the front lines. Over two decades, I worked my way up, serving as a Special Agent conducting criminal investigations, working undercover narcotics, and eventually earning the rank of Special Agent in Charge in two different districts. My career culminated in senior leadership, where I served as the Deputy Associate Director overseeing Field Operations and, finally, the Division of Drug Enforcement for the entire country until my retirement in November 2024.
Throughout that journey, I saw brilliant, dedicated officers and support staff, people you'd trust with your life, who were completely lost when it came to their FERS pension, their TSP, or what it would actually take to retire with security. The official resources were a joke; dense, bureaucratic pamphlets that created more questions than answers. So, I took it upon myself to learn it. I dove into the regulations, built my own spreadsheets, and started teaching. On my own time, I developed a training program and personally taught hundreds of employees from the Department of the Interior to the Department of Justice, translating the complex rules into strategies that people could actually use.
A Shared Passion for Service
My name is Deena Ferguson, and I'm living proof that you don't need to start with all the answers, you just need the determination to find them. When I left the U.S. Army and entered federal service in my twenties, I was completely overwhelmed. Everything may as well have been a foreign language. I was young, ambitious, and absolutely lost in a sea of acronyms and regulations that no one seemed able to explain in plain English.
For 17 years and counting, I've clawed my way up the federal ladder, learning as much as I could through trial, error, and sheer persistence. Every confusing form, every cryptic benefits statement, every "that's just how it's always been done" became fuel for my determination to make it better.
But here's what sets me apart: I didn't just learn to navigate the system; I decided to rebuild it. As a single mom, my "free time" is basically a myth. Between being a mom, after long days at work and weekends, I taught myself to code in that "free time". YouTube tutorials at midnight, debugging while my kid did homework, learning JavaScript instead of sleeping, wanting to live out that scene in Office Space where I take a bat to my computer because I couldn't get something to work right (Jerin can attest). I'm still not great at it, honestly, but I'm good enough to build what needed to be built. Every tool on this site was coded during stolen moments when most people would be relaxing or watching Netflix like a normal person, driven by the memory of being that confused twenty-something who just needed someone to make it make sense.
I've known Jerin for about ten years, along with a handful of other amazing friends who've helped me navigate this federal world and help me understand how to maximize the benefits we are offered. When Jerin and I came together for this vision, we realized we had a perfect partnership, not because we knew everything, but because I remembered what it was like to know nothing and wanted to change that for others. While he brings decades of expertise from the highest levels of federal service, I bring the fresh perspective of someone who's recently walked the path from confusion to clarity, the stubborn determination of a single mom who refused to accept "that's just how it is" as an answer, and the ability and determination to build what we've put in front of you.
Every calculator, every tool, every feature on this site was built by hands that once fumbled through the same forms you're trying to understand now. The code might not be perfect (trust me, real developers would probably have opinions lol), but it works, and more importantly, it helps. This platform is my way of reaching back through time to help the person I used to be, and by extension, helping you. Because if a single mom can learn to code and find spare time outside of a full time job to build this resource, then you can absolutely figure out your federal benefits. And now, you won't have to do it alone.
We built this platform because we lived the problem. We are Feds, building for Feds. The tools on this site are designed to give you the same clarity we provided in our trainings to replace complexity with confidence. This isn't just a business for us; it's a continuation of a lifetime of service.
Driven by Community
The need for this clarity has been proven on a massive scale. Together, we help lead a Facebook community of over 50,000 federal employees, all seeking answers the government fails to provide. That community is a daily reminder of why this work is so vital and is the driving force behind our commitment to serving those who serve.
